Since 2009 I have got out my Santa suit and bought presents for those less fortunate. Of course it does have its perks as can be seen in this photo. after handing out presents to the children of a charity organisation that I support we headed to a friends cafe for a much needed cool drink of red bull. The girls there made a fuss of Santa and I'll let you into a secret, he didnt mind one bit.

Yes it can get cold there, that's why it's usually a Kiwi's first stop, ( it used to be the other capital of NZ, but I think Brizzy might have taken the title now? ) I went to Adelaide, and grew mine after the first winter, but ironically had to shave it off years later, upon a misguided return to live in NZ .( Found it much easier to get a job without it, apparently the wild and woolly look, was out of fashion in the early 90's in NZ ).

I went to Sydney not out of choice but because thats where the ship was going to next. It cost me $64 in a 4 berth cabin down the bottom of the ship. I was seasick for most of the journey. Flying was hideously expensive in those days.

I should've remembered it without going to google as I won the Waikato Savings Bank poster competition. It was a comp for school kids to design a poster for the event. I won our Waikato area but didnt win the national prize for all of NZ. I drew a Mr Dollar man blowing a trumpet and marching down the street. I actually found the old artwork up in the ceiling of the house I grew up in back in Hamilton on one of my visits home. I was a prolific drawer as a kid.

Great stuff, I had a Mate from Adelaide, who went to the Summernats every year without fail, but he moved to Cairns around 2006, but probably still went.

I ran the wet tshirt comp at the Summernats for 20 plus years. Political correct brigade put a stop to it a few years back but it was fun while it lasted. I still run them at Tamworth Country Music Festival. It will be my 24th year running them in January 2014. Here is a crowd scene.

We have one here some afternoons, when it rains, the High schools girls always seem to forget their coats? ? ( Just one more ' hazard ' on the road ).
